August 8-9 — Advanced Cyanotype with Eric William Carroll

$275.00

Advanced Cyanotype
Workshop with Guest Artist Eric William Carroll
August 8-9, 2026 | 10:00am – 3:00pm (daily)
$25 material fee

Ready to take your cyanotype practice to the next level? This advanced workshop builds on foundational skills and opens the door to a wider, more nuanced range of creative possibilities. Moving beyond the traditional Prussian blue, students will explore how to tone cyanotype prints using natural dyes, transforming both color and mood while adding depth and complexity to their work.

In addition to toning, you’ll be introduced to the process of creating digital negatives, allowing you to incorporate photographic imagery and achieve greater tonal range and detail in your prints. These techniques offer powerful ways to expand your visual language—whether you’re reworking existing prints or developing entirely new imagery.

Through guided demonstrations and hands-on experimentation, this workshop encourages a deeper engagement with cyanotype as both a photographic and printmaking process. By the end of the session, you’ll have a series of richly layered prints and the knowledge to continue exploring these methods independently.

What You’ll Learn

  • Techniques for toning cyanotype prints using natural dyes

  • How different toning agents affect color, contrast, and mood

  • An introduction to creating and using digital negatives

  • Methods for achieving greater tonal range and photographic detail
