Nov. 8-9: Innovative Screen Printing — Deep Dive into Pastels, Charcoal & Monoprints
November 8-9, 2025
10am-2pm
Innovative Screen Printing — Deep Dive into Pastel, Charcoal & Monoprinting
Step outside the rules of traditional screen printing in this two-day workshop designed for artists or curious beginners who want to push the envelope of innovation. Together we’ll explore the joyful, playful side of printmaking—where drawing, painting, and printing collide.
What to Expect
Over the course of two sessions, we’ll dive deep into experimental, low-tech screen printing methods that transform familiar materials into surprising new prints:
Day 1 — Pastels & Charcoal
Use dry materials rarely seen in screen printing to create bold, textural imagery. Translate still-life sketches into prints, experimenting with soft, powdery marks that become vibrant, layered works on paper. Discover how to adapt these materials into both one-of-a-kind pieces and small edition runs.
Day 2 — Mono printing & Monotypes
Ditch the rules and embrace spontaneity. Apply ink directly to the screen with spatulas, brushes, and stencils to explore texture, color, and layered mark-making. No two prints will be alike—the results range from moody and atmospheric to bright and energetic, always full of character.
This is a hands-on, exploratory workshop—expect time to play and experiment with new tools, and leave with a stack of unique prints. No exposure unit or fancy equipment required.
All materials are provided. Just bring your ideas and curiosity!

How to print with unconventional dry media like pastels and charcoal
Techniques for turning sketches into expressive, layered screen prints
