Join us for a playful and spontaneous approach to screen printing using drawing fluid and screen filler. In this workshop, we’ll toss registration aside and create compositions with experimentation and chance. You’ll learn how to build up layers and color to create rich and expressive prints, exploring the possibilities of color, transparency, and stencils. This process is loose, free, and fun—perfect for anyone curious about printmaking without the need for specialized equipment. Everything we’ll cover can be easily adapted to continue printing at home.

CLASS SCHEDULE

Day One

  • Introduction to materials and process

  • Prepare screens with drawing fluid and screen filler

  • Sketch and paint designs directly onto the screen

  • Design and hand-cut stencils

  • Create a set of interchangeable matrices—painted and cut elements that can be layered and recombined in limitless ways

Day Two

  • Use the matrices you created to layer and build compositions directly on paper

  • Experiment with composition, transparency, layering, and color

  • Build a varied edition of prints to take home

ANNA BRYANT

Anna Bryant’s work and expertise span a range of printmaking techniques, from relief and traditional screen printing to more recent focus on low-tech, experimental approaches like monoprinting with screens. Her artistic practice is centered on graphic compositions and condensed abstract forms that explore the figurative, blending structure and spontaneity to create visually engaging prints. 

Anna is a founding member of Print House, where she fosters a community for accessible, hands-on printmaking. In this class, she brings her experience and passion for the medium to guide students in creating their own striking prints and exploring new and innovative approaches to composition, layering, and color.
