June 26-27: Free Form Lino Block Printmaking

$350.00

2-Day Workshop with Print House Founder, Denise Markbreit
June 26-27, 2026 | 10:00am - 4:00pm (daily)
*Class tuition includes all materials. Lunch provided.

Explore the endless possibilities of lino block printmaking in this playful, process-driven class. Working in a free-form way, we’ll think beyond traditional block printing—cutting, carving, reshaping, and reprinting our linoleum pieces to build layered, expressive compositions. Both abstract and representational imagery lend themselves beautifully to this process, allowing each artist to follow their own rhythm and vision. The possibilities are endless and exhilarating! Artists can work in series as mono prints, create an edition, work abstractly or representationally. The sky is the limit!

DENISE MARKBREIT — PRINTMAKER and CO-FOUNDER of Print House

Denise Markbreit, co-founder of Print House, is a lifelong printmaker and educator with a deep knowledge of print processes. Nearly 20 years ago, discovering Akua ink at an artist retreat marked a turning point in her practice, sparking an ongoing commitment to building the safest, most environmentally conscious print studio possible—one that protects her health as well as that of the students and collectors who move through the studio and gallery.

A multidisciplinary artist, Denise’s work centers on woodblock and monoprint techniques, exploring themes of landscape, memory, and shadow. She works in the space between abstraction and representation, drawing on her affinity for wabi-sabi and Japanese aesthetics. Her visual language extends across printmaking, textile work, constructions, and mixed media, often incorporating a strong sense of drawing throughout.

In 2018, Denise founded Asheville Print Studio + Gallery. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene in 2024, she co-founded Print House with fellow printmaker Anna Bryant in 2025.

Denise holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MST from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her prints, constructions, and textiles have been exhibited in numerous galleries and institutions across the country and are held in art collections worldwide.
