Dec 12-13: Free Form Lino Block Printmaking

$250.00

2-Day Workshop with Print House Founders, Denise Markbreit & Anna Bryant
Dec. 12-13, 2025 | 10:00am - 2:00pm (daily)
*Class tuition includes all materials.

Explore the endless possibilities of lino block printmaking in this playful, process-driven class. Working in a free-form way, we’ll think beyond traditional block printing—cutting, carving, reshaping, and reprinting our linoleum pieces to build layered, expressive compositions. Both abstract and representational imagery lend themselves beautifully to this process, allowing each artist to follow their own rhythm and vision. The possibilities are endless and exhilarating! Artists can work in series as mono prints, create an edition, work abstractly or representationally. The sky is the limit!

  • Explore compositional possibilities through cutting, layering, and reconfiguring shapes

  • Develop a personal, intuitive approach to printmaking

  • Discover how both abstract and representational imagery can thrive in a free-form process

  • New found skills to continue your print practice both at home and in the studio.

DENISE MARKBREIT

PRINTMAKER and FOUNDER-OWNER of Print House

Denise discovered Akua ink - a soy based, safer printmaking solution while at an artists’ retreat. It was a game changer for her printmaking practices. Delving into safer techniques, without solvents or chemicals, opened up a world of eco-friendly printmaking possibilities including Mokuhanga, Mokulito, Mixed Media printing and Solar Plate print matrixes. Denise has been hooked on green printmaking ever since!

In addition to her pursuit of printed fine art images, Denise creates hand printed home accessories, and print based mixed media images and sculptures. Denise also teaches printmaking classes and workshops.

In 2018 Denise founded the Asheville Print Studio + Gallery. After the devastation of Helene in 2024 she founded Print House with fellow printmaker, Anna Bryant, in 2025. Denise holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MST from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her fine art prints have been exhibited in numerous galleries and institutions across the country and reside in art collections worldwide.

Her artistic practice is centered on graphic compositions and condensed abstract forms that explore the figurative, blending structure and spontaneity to create visually engaging prints.
